Flower Domes for Different Festivals

24 Jun 2021

There are four big different festivals celebrated in Singapore and one that all Singaporeans celebrate. Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa and Deepavali are the most popular and anticipated celebrations with each being celebrated by different racial groups while Christmas is celebrated by many across all racial groups! The one festival that all Singaporeans celebrate is the country's National Day, which commemorates Singapore's independence. Together, these five festivals represent theΒ racial harmony that Singapore prides herself on!

For every festival, there are common and traditional gifts that people give to each other for all theseΒ years. But this time 'round, we're introducing a perhaps not-so-common gift that can be gifted across all five festivals - preserved flower domes! The range of flower domesΒ we curated for this post are diverse enough to match all five festivals, so sit tight andΒ we'll get to each festival!

1. Chinese New Year - Prosperity and Good Fortune

Maneki-Neko ζ‹›γηŒ« Fortune Cat

Chinese New Year (CNY), as the name suggests, is celebrated by the Chinese population in Singapore and all around the globe. CNY is all about good luck and good fortune, so red - the colour that encompasses such - is a common colour seen during the festival!Β This domeΒ not only features preserved flowers and foliage, it also has a maneki-neko (fortune-beckoning cat) as the main highlight, which doubles the auspiciousness of this dome!

2. Hari Raya Puasa - Tradition and Peace

Hana DomΕ« - Signature Ana Hana Preserved Flower Dome

Hari Raya Puasa is an annual festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide and in Singapore. This celebration significantly marks the end of Ramadan, the annual fasting month for Muslims. Green is a colour commonly and traditionally associated with Muslims and Hari Raya Puasa, while blue is also becoming more popular these days.Β These two colours have also been commonly associated with peace, which is one of the many blessings Muslims ask for their family and friends during du'a and prayers. With that,Β this flower domeΒ featuring blue roses and turquoise (blue-green) foliage is perfect as a Raya gift!

3. Deepavali - Light and Colourful

Haruhi - Forever Love

Deepavali, or Diwali, is a festivalΒ where the Hindus, Jains and SikhsΒ celebrate goodΒ triumphingΒ over evil. It isΒ also known as the festival of light and is a very colourful festival! As such, we choseΒ this domeΒ with an orange and yellow rose. The bright colours both pay homage to the colourful festival and represent the candles and lamps that are lit during Deepavali!

4. Christmas - Winter and Snow

Aurora Flower Dome

Christmas in Singapore is not celebrated by Christians only. Many of us who don't practice Christianity also send gifts to one another during this festival! Even though Christmas has always been associated with red and green, we choseΒ this domeΒ instead because the blues and whites reminded us of winter and snow - which areΒ also representative ofΒ Christmas!

5. National Day - Independence andΒ Patriotism

Hanata - Preserved Hydrangea/Rose Dome

On 9th August 1965, SingaporeΒ becameΒ independent and we've since celebrated this day annually to commemorateΒ our independence! On this day, Singaporeans don red tops and white bottoms which are symbolic of our flag. This dome perfectly captures the National Day spirit with the reds and whites - making it a good gift for your fellow Singaporeans!

TheΒ variety of colours that flowers and foliage come in in preserved flower domes make them perfect as gifts on any occasions - you can definitely find one that suit the festival you're celebrating and gifting for!
